- What is the difference between Heard and MarketMan?
- MarketMan is restaurant inventory, purchasing and recipe costing software. Heard runs the service line: a live 86 board, a live prep list, recipes with scaling, and signed pass-down notes with team chat, on every plan.
- Does Heard do inventory or food costing?
- Not the way MarketMan does. Heard keeps ingredient unit costs and shows estimated batch and per-portion costs for recipes you have priced; it does not count inventory, process invoices or report actual versus theoretical cost. MarketMan lists inventory counts, waste tracking, real-time recipe costing, actual vs theoretical reports, purchase orders and invoice scanning on every plan.
- How much does Heard cost compared to MarketMan?
- Heard is free during the beta. After the beta, Starter is $49 CAD per month per kitchen and Pro is $99 CAD per month per kitchen. As listed on marketman.com on October 13, 2026, MarketMan Starter is $249 USD per month and Growth is $299 USD per month; its page metadata lists Starter at $199 USD. Prices are in different currencies and may have changed.
- Can I use Heard and MarketMan together?
- Yes. They cover different jobs. MarketMan handles inventory, ordering and costing; Heard handles the 86 board, prep list, recipes and pass-downs during service.
- Is Heard a native app like MarketMan?
- No. Heard is a web app that runs in the phone browser, so there is nothing to install from an app store. MarketMan offers iOS and Android apps.
