The guide and food bible are easier to read
On a tablet or a laptop, the user guide and the food bible ran text all the way across the screen — about a hundred characters a line, which is hard to follow without losing your place. Both now hold a proper column width, and the guide's text is a size bigger. On a phone nothing changes; it was already the right width.
Large Type now covers everything
A few labels on the announcements screen ignored the Large Type setting in Settings → Appearance. They scale with it now.

Photos post faster in Team Chat
Sending a photo in Team Chat used to upload the full-size picture straight off your camera — 4 or 5 MB, which is slow on back-of-house wifi and left you waiting. It now shrinks the photo on your phone first, the same way plating photos and recipe scans already did. Looks the same, posts about ten times faster.

Bigger buttons where you actually tap
The filter buttons on the 86 board and the “Start all” / “Done all” buttons on the prep list were small enough to miss with gloves on. They're now full-size targets. The 86 button, the Roux and chat send buttons, and the nightly quantity box got the same treatment. Nothing moved — the buttons just catch your thumb now.

Dark mode is readable again
If you run the app in dark mode, a lot of the blue and red text — the “View” and “Edit” links, error messages, the little status icons — was too dim to read properly. All of it has been brightened for dark mode. Light mode looks exactly the same as before.
Every button and box now says what it is
If you use VoiceOver or TalkBack, the small icon buttons used to just say “button”, and form boxes said nothing at all once you started typing. They now announce what they actually do and what they're for.

See what you missed while you were off
The dashboard used to show everyone the same numbers for today, which was no help if you'd been off for two days. It now tells you what changed since your last shift — what got 86'd, what prep went up, what notes were left. First time you open it you won't see anything, because there's no starting point yet; from your next shift on it's there.
Feedback goes somewhere now
When you send feedback from Settings, it now opens a tracked ticket instead of just being filed. Same form, same place — it just doesn't disappear into a list nobody reads.

Your taps stick now
On the prep list and the 86 board, tapping a status, a priority flag or a station's whole batch could quietly snap back to where it was — usually when someone else was working the same item at the same time. On the 86 board that was the worst of it: the button sprang back, and tapping again 86'd what you'd just put back on. Your tap now holds while it saves, and only then picks up anyone else's change.

Typing to Roux is smooth again
Typing a question to Roux got slower the longer your conversation was — by 40-odd answers the box was visibly lagging behind your fingers. It now keeps up no matter how long the thread is, and answers start coming back sooner after you hit send.
Your own chat messages show up straight away
After hitting send in Team Chat there was a pause before your message appeared, and typing in a busy channel felt sticky. Both are fixed — your message shows the moment it's saved.

The app is about twice as fast to open a page
Every screen was checking who you are four separate times before it could show you anything, and each check meant waiting on the server. It now checks once. Pages that used to take a beat — the dashboard, Nightly, Admin — come up in roughly half the time.
Team chat was showing you the oldest messages, not the newest
Once a kitchen passed 100 messages, Team Chat kept showing the very first 100 and never the recent ones — so it looked frozen in the past. It now opens on your latest messages, the way it always should have.
Tapping a tab does something straight away
Prep, Nightly, Food Bible, Team Chat, Events, Pass-Down and Team used to sit on the old screen with no sign anything was happening while they loaded. They now show the page taking shape immediately.
Faster start-up
The opening splash was held on screen for a fixed two seconds even when the app was ready sooner. It's shorter now, and the artwork is a fraction of the size it was — noticeably quicker on a phone on kitchen wifi.

What's New popup is fresh again
The pop-up that greets you with new features had gotten stuck showing old, sometimes blank content. It now shows the same release notes as Settings → About → What's new, and matches the app's look.

Ask Roux to add prep, and it links the recipe now
When you added a prep item yourself, tapping it took you straight to the build and the card showed its allergens. When Roux added the same item for you, it came through as a plain line with no recipe behind it. Roux now attaches the recipe the same way you would — including when you point at one with the / picker. If two of your recipes share a name it leaves the item unlinked rather than guess, so you can pick the right one yourself.

The barcode scanner works now
Scanning a barcode — or typing one in by hand — has been failing with "Scan failed, check your connection" every single time, on every screen that offers it. The connection was never the problem; the app was blocking its own lookup. It works now, and if the product database is ever down you'll still get the barcode itself so you can type the name yourself instead of losing the scan.
The events calendar updates live again
Two people editing events at the same time couldn't see each other's changes until one of them pulled to refresh — even though the app showed a green "Live" indicator the whole time. Events now update on your screen the moment someone else saves, the way the prep list and 86 board already do.
A failed import no longer says it worked
If an import failed on every row, the app still said "imported" and sent you to a list that hadn't changed — so it looked like the items were in until you went looking for them. A failed import now says so plainly and leaves you on the page.

Fewer prep texts — one when an item is finished, not when it's started
Starting a prep task used to text every manager the same way finishing one did, so a busy service filled your phone with updates about work that had only just begun. Now only "done" sends a text. Started items still appear on the board and in your notifications, so nothing disappears — there's just less buzzing.

What's new updates on its own now
Release notes used to be added by hand after each update, which is how this list fell six versions behind twice. It now publishes itself whenever a new version ships. Nothing changes for you — it just stops going stale.

What's new, the help guide and this About tab are now edited without a code change
All three used to be written into the app itself, so fixing a typo meant a developer and a deploy. They live in the content system now, and an edit shows up in the app about a minute later.
Every word on this About tab can now be reworded without a developer
Not just the guide and the release notes — the section headings, the “no notices yet” style messages, and the whole feedback form down to the placeholder text and the button. Clearing any of it puts the original wording back, so nothing can end up blank.
This list had fallen six releases behind
What's new stopped at v0.68.1 while the app was already on v0.70.0 — the second time that has happened. Every past release note has been brought across, and notes were written for the three releases that were missing.
Fixed: /help and /announcements went nowhere
Both pointed at screens that stopped existing when Settings became four tabs. Old bookmarks and notification links now land here on the About tab.
The help guide no longer repeats the release notes
It carried its own “What's new” list that had been stuck on v0.55.1 for months. Release notes live in one place now — the What's new section above.

Features your plan doesn't include are now visible instead of missing
On a Starter plan, Ask Roux, Nightly Review and Events simply weren't in the menu, so there was no way to tell whether a feature had moved, broken, or was something the kitchen hadn't paid for. They now show at the bottom of the menu under “Not on your plan”, greyed out with a lock and the plan that includes them. Managers can tap through to billing.
Fixed: Ask Roux could be opened on a plan that doesn't include it
A saved bookmark or home-screen shortcut still opened the chat screen, which then failed the moment you sent anything. It now sends you back to the dashboard like Nightly Review and Events already did.
Fixed: hitting the monthly Roux limit showed the word “upgrade_required”
You now get the plain sentence explaining that the limit resets next month, the same wording the rest of the app uses.
Your free trial now warns you before it ends
The trial was only ever mentioned on the billing page, which most staff can't open — so the fourteen days ran out with no notice and the paid features vanished one morning. A banner appears in the last week and again once the trial is over, naming exactly what locks (Ask Roux, Nightly Review, Events, SMS alerts) and what stays free forever (menu, 86 board, prep list, recipes, pass-downs).
Fixed: a trial with no end date on record never ended
A kitchen whose trial had no expiry stored kept every paid feature indefinitely. A missing expiry now counts as a trial that is over.

Texting STOP to your kitchen’s number now actually stops the texts
Heard now keeps its own opt-out list per kitchen, so it survives a change of phone number, and every outgoing text checks it first. All the standard keywords work — STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE and OPTOUT to stop; START, YES and UNSTOP to start again.
People who signed up for email updates can now unsubscribe
There is a proper one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom of every update email. Signing up with a capitalised email no longer creates a second, separate record either.
Sharing a link to Heard shows a proper preview card
Pasting an app link into a text, Slack or a DM used to produce a blank grey box. It now shows a card with the Heard name and address.

The Closing Checklist now uses your venue’s own timezone
The checklist used one app-wide timezone, so a venue in a different one could get a date that had already rolled over — the closing shift landed on the wrong day. Set yours under Settings → Admin → Venue Timezone.
Plating photos on recipes
Stocks, sauces and other kitchen builds can now carry a plating photo, the same way menu items already do. A chef or admin adds or replaces it from the recipe screen; everyone else sees it read-only.
Ask Roux now has the same @ and / autocomplete as team chat
Type / in Ask Roux to pick a menu item or recipe and Roux answers from that dish’s exact recipe data instead of guessing. Type @ to drop in a teammate’s name. A Roux thread is private to you, so an @teammate here is just text and sends no notification.
Connecting Google Drive now tells you what went wrong
Every outcome used to look the same — a silent bounce back to Admin with no message. Admin now shows a real message for each case: connected, not set up, verification failed, no offline access, expired access, or a mismatched callback address.

The Google Drive and Dropbox imports are switched off
Both were broken — the Google sign-in they use was never taken out of test mode, so the connection expired after seven days. Rather than leave two buttons that could never finish, they are hidden until the connection is rebuilt. Nothing you imported before is affected and nothing was deleted.
Google Sheets is export-only for now
The import half signed in through Google Drive, so it could not work either. Exporting your prep list as a CSV never used Google at all and works exactly as before.

The 86 and allergen warning now shows everywhere Roux answers
Roux's replies in Team Chat and the daily Roux tip on the home screen now carry the same red "86'd — out tonight" and amber "Contains:" banners as the Ask Roux chat, checked against the live 86 board and allergen list. The chat banner also catches a dish Roux mentions without formally citing it. Always confirm against the recipe card.

Roux knows event menus — custom dishes included
Ask Roux "what's the menu for Saturday's event?" and it now sees the whole menu, including event-only custom courses — not just dishes from the regular menu.

Fresher Help guide
The in-app Help guide (Settings → Help) caught up with everything shipped recently: plans, role permissions, notifications, privacy tools, and more. The "Send test" link left the notification drawer.

Dark mode stays dark
Dark mode could randomly flip back to light when opening certain pages. Fixed — your theme now sticks everywhere.
Notification banners in the app
New notifications now pop up as a small banner while you're using the app — tap View to jump straight to the item. The bell still collects everything.
Email signup moved to Settings
The email signup card left the home screen — find it under Settings → Email updates.
Straight answers on iPhone alerts & haptics
On iPhone, push alerts need Heard added to your Home Screen (Safari can't do them) and tap vibrations need the App Store app. Settings now says so instead of leaving you guessing. Also fixed a missing space on the home-screen 86 banner.

86 board now updates live, for real
The 86 board looked "Live" but changes from other devices weren't always arriving without a manual refresh. That's fixed — 86 status now syncs instantly everywhere.
Cooks can now 86 items
The 86 toggle is supposed to be open to cooks, but a permissions gap silently blocked it for that role. Cooks can now 86/un-86 items like the app always said they could.
Fixed cursor jumping while entering ingredient costs
Typing a cost in the ingredient cost editor could lose focus after each keystroke. Fixed.

Fixed sign-out and invite links for real this time
Sign-out and the accept-invite link were silently failing because the session cookie had been locked to server-only access, so the app on your phone/browser could never actually clear or replace it. Cookie access is now back to how Supabase expects it, so both work as intended.
