A digital 86 board gives the whole kitchen one live list of dishes and ingredients that are unavailable. In Heard, when someone 86s an item, every phone on the line updates so the call does not disappear into a group chat or stay trapped on one whiteboard. ### What does kitchen management software replace? Heard brings the 86 board, prep list, recipes, and signed pass-down notes into one shared workspace. It replaces the whiteboards, paper lists, binders, and group-chat messages kitchens use for that work, and each part still looks familiar to the crew. ### Does Heard replace our kitchen group chat? For kitchen operations, yes. A group chat is still useful for conversation, but an 86 call, prep assignment, recipe, or pass-down should be easy to find after the conversation moves on. Heard keeps that work in a live board instead of a message thread. ### Does Heard integrate with our POS? No. Heard is built for back-of-house operations rather than point-of-sale. It gives the kitchen a shared 86 board, prep list, recipe book, and pass-down record without requiring a POS integration. ### Who built Heard? Logan Manuel is the creator of Heard. He built it while working in a kitchen, as a fix for the calls that went missing between whiteboards and group chats, and shaped it between prep and service. He still works on it and reads every message sent to him. ### Will my crew actually use this? Heard runs in the browser on the phones the crew already carries, so there is nothing to install. Every screen is built for use during service: large tap targets, high contrast, fast loads. In August 2026, release v0.75.7 raised the controls a cook taps mid-service to a 44px target, so they work with gloved and wet hands. ## Links - [Every feature](https://heardapp.kitchen/features) - [Pricing](https://heardapp.kitchen/pricing) - [About the creator](https://heardapp.kitchen/about) - [Changelog](https://heardapp.kitchen/changelog): every release, newest first - [Trust and security](https://trust.heardapp.kitchen) - [Heard vs MarketMan for the Service Line](https://heardapp.kitchen/vs/marketman) - [Heard vs Marble for Kitchen Operations](https://heardapp.kitchen/vs/marble) - [Heard vs meez for the Service Line](https://heardapp.kitchen/vs/meez) - [Heard vs Whiteboards and Group Chats](https://heardapp.kitchen/vs/whiteboards) - [Blog](https://heardapp.kitchen/blog) - [How Roux Turns Kitchen Data Into Line-Ready Answers](https://heardapp.kitchen/blog/how-roux-turns-your-kitchens-own-data-into-answers-the-line-can-actually-use): Generic AI gives generic answers.
